·         Masthead – main title

·         Sub-heads

·         Sky line – give further information to what may be included in the magazine

·         Rag out

·         Call out – an explanatory label for an illustration, usually a brief phrase.

·         By Line – name of journalist who has written the story

·         Caption – a title for an illustration usually a brief phrase, the caption should also support the other content

·         Headshot – an image of a person’s head

·         Sell lines – lines used to sell

·         Bullets

·         Headline – biggest story on page

·         Splash – front page

·         Main image – shows the person or object directly associated with the main article

·         Secondary image

·         Barcode

·         Cover lines - short statements found on the cover of the magazine that describes the articles inside.

·         Pug – the prices, logo and promotion positioned at the top corners- catch the readers eye

·         Puff – a word or phrase on the front cover which is used to boost the status and engage the audience
