School Magazine Questionnaire

What colours would you like to see used?

Simple, clear colours. All one colour all the way through.

What sort of articles?

Things that can link into the local community as well as school based things.

What images?

Detailed images, bright, colourful and interesting. Student art.

What would you like the front page to look like?

More of a front page, articles inside

What would teachers like to see?

Success stories, results, things students are doing outside of school, things that are changing, local area

Students or a reporter?

Prefer students to write it (one from each year)

Problem page that helps people – like a forum

What colours would you like to see used?

Nice and bright colours – would make it look more interesting to students

What sort of articles?

Something to do with reading- read for pleasure, latest books

What images?

Stay away from celebrities- so students don’t get unrealistic expectations of what they should be like

What would you like the front page to look like?

More like a magazine- article titles on the front. More professional – looks smart like a business (fits what staff want), not too formal as don’t want to intimidate readers.

What would teachers like to see?

Things that are happening in the school, current events, student work, and current news event- written in a way the students will understand it

Student or a reporter writing it?

Student wrote articles- involves them more

Would like it to use standard English but still be interesting to students, chatty tone (more friendly) – no slang

School colours – links with the school

Book reviews, student success stories (GCSEs), students work

What images?

Results days, competitions, work from students, art, media

What would you like the front page to look like?

Typical school magazine, every couple of months a competition where students design the cover

What would teachers like to see?

Writing competitions – members of staff judge it

Things written by the students

Other: mainly formal but with a section that it is informal. Sections that are more aimed at certain year groups

Colder colours – blue and green, school colours- tie in with logo, consistent colours

What sort of articles?

Interview with a teacher, interview with an exam board examiner on a specific subject

Students

What would you like the front page to look like?

More traditional school magazine

What would sixth formers like to see?

Any changes, any club, UCAS points, university open days

Student or a reporter writing it?

Students write it- more personal to the school
